Boulevardier Cocktail Recipe

Even though New Years Eve might feel a little different this year, we’re still all about a celebratory cocktail, regardless of the fact that our midnight celebration will be just us at home with our significant others and our pets.

To make a boulevardier cocktail, simply shake (or stir) 2 ounces of whiskey, 1 ounce of Campari and 1 ounce of sweet vermouth with ice. Strain into a glass and serve with an orange peel. We love this boulevardier recipe because it takes a classic cocktail, the Negroni, and makes it feel a little more ‘winter-y’, warmer and a little mysterious just by swapping the gin for whiskey.

This is Julie's slightly boozier version of the classic, so feel free to play with the proportions. Some people people prefer a 1:1:1 or 1.5 ounces of whiskey with 1 ounce of Campari and 1 ounce of sweet vermouth. If you like Campari, go for it! You can also, of course, serve this boulevardier over an ice cube rather than serve it up, like we've done in the video. Julie used rye and Dakota used bourbon—whatever you have is great. If you like Negronis (and bourbon), you'll probably like this. Ju adjusted the quantity of bourbon to cut through the bitter nature of the Campari and sweet, herbal taste of the vermouth. It'll warm you right up and is perfect for a chilly evening. Cheers! — Dak and Ju
